Help on how to use this software:

Introduction:

This program is made for the professional use and it is presumed that the use is familiar with the fundamental principles of homeopathic medicine, the philosophy, materia medica and the concept of the repertory. This program should be considered as a helping tool in the practice and not as a substitute for the medical literature in general and the homeopathic training in particular.

About the structure of Cough & Cold module:

The Respira-Tree:

It will be of interest to note that this program is not a complete symptomatic conglomeration but a Clinical Module which

Has been derived on the basis of Dr. Rajesh Shah’s method of acute prescribing. The Respira-Tree, as it is called indicates a tree of case-taking and case study. The structure of the Respira-Tree consists of the individual the branches (alphabetically) such as: Cough, Cold-Coryza (under Nose), Sore throat (under Throat), Expectoration.

The symptoms such as cold, coryza, sneezing, nasal discharge, etc. should be seen under Nose. The symptoms of the throat and that of the larynx under Throat and Larynx, respectively. Voice, Diagnosis and Fever are given separately to remind the prescriber to consider the symptoms in these areas, whenever available.

Besides the symptoms pertaining to cough and cold, there are vital sections involving the symptoms of Generality and the Concomitants.

The symptoms under both the heading are chosen selectively from vast experience. The General symptoms are those affecting the human system at a whole of the physical level. The concomitants are those, which are co-existent symptoms but not directly, connected with the chief symptoms. The section on Diagnosis is a clinical and a valuable aspect of this module.

The Symptom Branches:

Every main section in the Respira-Tree opens up to show further symptoms and sub-symptoms. They are also called as the rubrics and the subrubrics. When you click on the main symptoms (say Nose) or on the plus sign it will open up into further branches and sub-branches. If you cannot read the complete symptoms which may not fit in the display window, simply touching your mouse cursor on the said symptom will allow you to view the full symptom easily. However, you can always view the complete symptom in the text box, under the tool-bar.

To close any symptom branch, you may simply click on the tiny box with the minus sign. If you have opened many symptoms and sub-symptoms, at any given point you may refresh the tree by clicking Refresh command situated on the left bottom of the screen.

It is also possible for you to scroll the main symptom display box from side to side and above downwards, as per your requirement.

How to View the drugs and Select the Symptom:

Whenever you single click on any symptom in the symptom branch, the whole symptom is displayed at the top while all the drugs for that symptom are displayed in the Drug List, upper box on the right side of the screen.  The drugs are displayed in simple blue font(1) which shows the strength of the symptom as one, green italic font(2), showing the strength two, in red bold(3), showing the strength three and one in the red bold and underlined, shows the highest of four strength.

For selecting the symptom for your case study, you may either double click on the symptom or may double click on the Drug-List window or may click the enter key. Once you select the symptom, the symptom will be shown in the right lower window as under:

Once you select several symptoms and in case you decide to un-select one of them, you may do so by clicking on Delete Symptom. In case you want to delete all the symptoms at once or want to start all over again, you may click on Clear All button. If you have selected many symptoms, which may not be seen in the Selected symptom box, you may scroll the box vertically.

How to check the Result:

Once you have selected all the necessary symptoms from the Respira-Tree, you would like to check the analysis and the Repertorialy result. Click on the Result button to go to the result page:

While evaluating the analytical result, it is possible for you to go back to the front page where you have selected the symptoms from. This also gives you an option to re-view the result with some changes in the selection of the symptoms, if called for.

Coming back to the result page, please have a look at the Strength Vs Occurrence button, which gives you an option to review the repertorial result in the light of maximum symptom strength and maximum number of symptoms covered by the remedy, as well as viewing the drugs in alphabetical order.
